  Up and running
I made it out for a long awaited run last night. Despite the heat of the day, I somehow found the inspiration to head out for a run at about 7.30 in the evening. It was much needed after the stodge filled weekend I had just passed - and I feel a lot better for it. I only set myself the challenge of 20 minutes as it has been so long since I have run regularly, but even that made me feel like I had achieved something, and made me very red in the face by the time I got back. Now all I have to do it repeat it every couple of nights for the rest of my life! No problem!

  Feeling inspired
Leave the house before you find something worth staying in for.
Banksy www.banksy.co.uk
I was on the bus going to work the other day when I spotted a Banksy painting on the side of a building on Rosebery Avenue, Clerkenwell. My boyfriend has mentioned him a few times, and he has pointed out a few of his pieces around near liverpool street, but it felt pretty cool to spot one myself and watch all the people walking straight past it without noticing. A bit like a private joke. I've been having a look around the internet to see what else I can find about his work. I came across this page , which lists a lot of the locations. However, it seems that lots have been removed or painted over. This seems such a shame. We need these clever, witty, cheeky and poignant observations. I remember noticing one in Angel - now gone - and finding myself taking a few precious moments out of my day and thinking. We are often so busy that we forget to think. I'm not pretending to say anything profound or revolutionary, but there is something about noticing a picture on a wall that reminds me that there are people out there who are passionate about the state of the world and who want to share that passion.
To end, another quote from banksy: Win the rat race and you're still a rat.

  yoga again
This evening I finally broke my yoga rut. For the past 3 weeks or so, I have really let it go. I've been making excuses about it being too hot, or being too tired or stressed. However, tonight I eased myself back in with a through warm up and then the 'bliss' exercises. I have really lost flexibility. Before, I could get my hand flat on the floor during the standing forward bend, but now my knuckles are barely there. Luckily, I found that I progressed quite quickly before, so I hope that if I stick to it again and try to do at least 3 sessions a week I will get back to where I was.

a taste of things to come...
OK, so my blog didn't exactly rise from the ashes in the style I had intended, but I have had a busy few months. What with my Phd work, softball season and starting a new job, I have barely had time to draw breath. However, I feel that it is time to make an effort to an regular entries to this blog, if only for my own sanity.

Rather than try to update any would-be readers about my life for the last few months, I am just going to start writing from the now and see what happens.

This last week has felt hard. Three weeks of intense training at work have left me feeling a little frazzled and I am ashamed to say that the one thing that I should have been dong - my yoga- has also taken a backseat. I've been coming up with excuses such as the heat and having a headache, but in reality I just want to flop and lie motionless when I get in in the evenings. I'm sure I'd probably feel a lot better if I made the effort, and from next week I will.

There are lots of little things that I want to blog about at the moment; the new CD I just bought, the Banksy painting I spotted on the way in this morning, my fast approaching 30th birthday, the flowers on the chilli plants on my window sill - all sorts, and too much to cram into one entry - so that's the sort of thing that is coming your way if you come back and visit me again - you have been warned!

  Like a phoenix....
So after the unexplained disappearance of my previous blog into the ether, this one rises like a phoenix from it's ashes. Sadly the pearls of wisdom and witty anecdotes from there are lost forever...(you'll just have to take my word for it that they existed!)...but onwards and upwards with this one!
